Strength & Balance

Strength and balance classes are based on the Otago Exercise Program which was developed to reduce falls in older people. If you have had a fall or are at risk of falls, our Strength and Balance classes can help you build your strength, balance, mobility, and confidence.
Consisting of a set of leg muscle strengthening and balance retraining exercise performed seated and standing. For those worried about their balance or the ability to stand, even the standing exercises take place around a chair that participants can hold for support.
This is a light intensity class that can be tailored to suit individual needs.
Benefits
Helps with overall physical and mental wellbeing, sleeping patterns, increased energy and can help with osteoporosis and arthritis.
How to book
Sessions must be booked in advance and can be booked online or in app up to one week in advance.
Physical activity readiness
Due to these classes being designed for adults with health conditions you will be required to fill out a physical activity readiness questionnaire prior to your first class alongside a blood pressure check administered by your instructor. You may be required to gain a referral from your GP or another health professional if we feel this is appropriate regarding your health conditions.
